Practice starts Tuesday morning
Hi everyone!!!
First practice. We are looking forward to our first practice Tuesday morning. I will be at all of the practices to run a parent meeting, so please attend if you are able and have questions. If you are unavailable or don't have any questions, I will email out an info sheet tomorrow with more info and dates. For now, know what your child's practice time is here...(based on age)
13+ swim: 8-9:30; dive: 9:30-10:30
11 & 12 swim: 8:30-9:30; dive: 9:30-10:00
9 &10 swim: 9:30-10:30; dive: 10:30-11:00
<= 8 swim: 10:15-11:00; dive: 11:00-11:30 (10:15-10:30 will be games)
This practice schedule will be TUESDAY-FRIDAY this week.
Bring a friend! If you have a neighbor or your child has a friend who may be interested in trying out a summer swim or dive program but just wasn't sure - even if they aren't a member of the club - invite them to attend Tuesday and Wednesday's practices! If they like it they can join then. (Of course you do have to be a member of the club to swim, so please keep this in mind. You don't have to be a member to try us out. Plus, there is family open swim for non-members June 3)
Dive/swim? Swim/dive? Many kids aren't sure if they just want to swim or just want to dive. I can tell you are divers have a TON of fun and lots of cool new things over the summer (no experience needed!). So if you would like to encourage your swimmer to try something new (or encourage your diver to try out swimming), please do so. Just like above... we are happy to have them try out a couple of practices and then we can talk about adding the second sport on (it is a bargain!)
<ok you can be done reading if you don't have an 8 and under swimmer>
8 and under swimmers: We will have screening the first day of practice (Tuesday). Please arrive at 10:30 instead of 10:15. The coaches will watch your child swim a couple of laps and that will be all. After practice you will receive information about if your child will be swimming with the 8 and under or juniors. The junior program is really about building endurance and refining stroke skills. We will always have coaches in the water with juniors, so if your child is on the bubble between the two levels, they will be assigned the junior group. We can always move them to the 8U practice once the coaches feel they are ready for 30 minutes of sustained swimming. Juniors are welcome to participates in meets, but they certainly don't have to (that's really true for anyone, but especially are youngest swimmers!)
See you Tuesday!
GO SWORDFISH!!!
