meet wrap-up, practice change, 4th of July parade, this week's meet, championships, advertisements, and this week's schedule
July 2nd
Shady lane wrap up. Congratulations Swordfish! Despite being significantly out numbered by Shady Lane's swim team, we eeked out a win 319 to 300!! THIS IS QUITE AN ACCOMPLISHMENT. As coach Zach said... it was a masterclass in quality! Nice job.
Practice change (see weekly schedule below). Regular practice on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. On Tuesday we have the 4th of July parade.
4th of July Parade. We will have our annual 4th of July Wyoming swordfish parade. Wear spirit wear and put on your red, white, and blue! Bring your already decorated bikes, scooters, skates, or whatever and yourself. Last year we won most spirited team (who knew this was a thing? the trophy is at the club!). Let's show Wyoming our patriotic spirit again last year. Meet on the Village Green at 9:30 as the parade starts at 10!
Dual Meet against Mt. Lookout. Dive warm ups 3:30-4:00 with a meet start at 4pm. Swim warm ups are 5:50-6:20 with a meet start at 6:30. Several people still need to swim in this meet to be eligible for championships. I'll send out an email to those who need to swim this week! Please go ahead and commit now to the swim meet :)
Championships. For those who are new this year, our swim championships are divided into West championships and City championships. West Champs are Monday evening (July 10). City champs are 2 days with the younger kids swimming in the morning on the 11th and the older kids swimming in the afternoon/evening of the 11th. Then the top qualifiers come back to swim July 12th in the evening. The coaches have to start thinking about line ups and entries now--so please go ahead and commit or decline these meets! We want to put forward our fastest swimmers at city champs, so please be prepared to swim both Tuesday and Wednesday. An email for dive champs should be coming separately but there are two dive championships B dive champs are at Anderson next weekend July 8. A Dive champs are at Clifton Meadows July 13 and 14.
Championship advertisements. Would you like to congratulate your swimmer, team, or your graduating seniors at this year’s PPSL swim finals? Well, now you can! You can support the PPSL by purchasing an ad that will run in this year’s upcoming A finals heat sheets. The heat sheets reach 1,400 swimmers so it can be a great way to advertise your business across the city. See attached for interest.
